Enquire Now →Join us for an authentic New Zealand whitebait season on the wild rivers of the South Island's West Coast — one of the country's most cherished and time-honoured fishing traditions.
Whitebait fishing on the West Coast is as iconic as New Zealand itself. Standing in the cold, clear flow of a bush-lined river with your whitebait stand net — this is a deeply authentic slice of Kiwi culture that few visitors ever get to experience.
We take you to established stands on prime West Coast rivers during the season, providing everything you need for a memorable day on the water. Your fresh catch can be cooked up riverside in classic whitebait fritters — a true West Coast delicacy.
There's nothing quite like cooking your freshly caught whitebait riverside — a simple egg and whitebait fritter on a cast iron pan is pure West Coast magic. We provide the pan, the butter, and the stories.
Our local guides know these rivers intimately, having fished them for generations. They'll show you the traditional stand-netting techniques, the best tides and flows to target, and the spots that produce season after season.
